In the article the object of close scrutiny is politeness as the category of communication. We distinguish important components of this communicative category applied to written business communication. Different kinds of business genres were chosen as a subject (business letter, commercial letter, e-mail, also user instruction and guarantee). Our aim was to investigate the features of realization and functions of this communicative category.
